When they arrived at the Griffin Lane home, Tice went inside while Green waited outside. While Tice and McGraw were inside, Weber entered the home from a rear door carrying a gun and demanded that Tice give him all of her money, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
“She ran out of the house, because he went in with a shotgun, and reported it to us,” Yoes said.
Tice’s cell phone was taken during the robbery but has been recovered, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators were originally lead to believe that McGraw had solicited Tice for sex, but that he had no knowledge of the robbery. They booked him with the additional charge on Tuesday after learning he had also been involved in the planning and execution of the robbery, Yoes said.
The two men located Tice through an escort service via the Internet, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Cook is the third defendant in this human trafficking case to plead guilty.
Co-defendant Dennis Henry, 51, of Wheatland, formerly the postmaster of Nevada, Mo ., pleaded guilty to his role in the conspiracy to commit sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion. Henry also pleaded guilty to transporting the victim across state lines for sexual activity.
Henry admitted that he engaged in sex with the victim, and participated in torture sessions with FV that would last for hours.
Henry saw pictures of FV’s vagina sewn shut, which he was told was a form of punishment. Henry also admitted that he visited FV at a Lebanon strip club where she was forced to work.

… We’re about two years overdue,” Bradley said.
Bradley said that he would like to open shelters in Atlanta, Miami and Orange County, Calif. The St. Louis shelter would accommodate victims from all over Missouri, he said. In Missouri, a person is considered a victim of a human trafficking if they are under 17 and have solicited sex, Bradley said.
“It’s not just in St. Louis,” Bradley said. “It’s your neighbor, your nieces, it can be anyone.”
Bradley said human trafficking is a problem in Missouri because it is a hub thanks to its location near the center of the country. Bradley said he was unsure how much human trafficking goes on in Cape Girardeau. There has been one reported case of soliciting prostitution in Cape Girardeau in the past year, according to police documents.

When a Joltran technician began disconnecting the phone, a familiar scenario ensued.
“A young lady came out and begged him not to take the phone out. She lived right across the street and said she had a sick child and this was her only communication with a doctor,” Nesselhauf said. “All of our techs can tell you heartbreaking stories like that, where people come out of their houses saying, ‘Please don’t take my phone away!’”
Nesselhauf wrote to the ward’s alderman, Matt Villa, seeking a reprieve for the phone.
Villa, who was an alderman from 1997 to this year, recalled the incident.
“I was sympathetic to Jim and to that woman,” he said. “But it was obvious to people in the area that the phone was being used to sell drugs and for prostitution.

Anthony Matthews: Few Clues in Murder of Venice Official
Authorities in metro East St. Louis are at a loss to explain the murder of the Venice street superintendent over the weekend.
Anthony Matthews, 56, was walking out of his home around 7:30 p.m. Saturday for his part-time job as a security guard at a Brooklyn strip club when he was shot to death by an unknown assailant. The suspect fled on foot and then got into a vehicle waiting for him about a block away.
Police say no one they’ve interviewed regarding Matthews has had a bad word to say about the deceased. Yesterday Matthews’ grieving widow, JoAnn Matthews, told the Post-Dispatch the same.
“We weren’t having any trouble with anybody,” she said.
Anyone with information regarding Matthews’ murder is urged to call the Illinois State Police office at 618-346-3990 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.

Bradley Cook, a Kirkwood man who is among a group of six people accused of sex trafficking, is set to change his not-guilty plea, according to a story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
Bradley and the other five people were indicted on March 30 by a federal grand jury on charges that the group had abused a mentally deficient woman in the town of Lebanon, according to an FBI press release. The indictment alleges that the woman was sexually abused and tortured for several years and forced to work as an exotic dancer at local strip clubs.
Cook faces seven federal counts in federal court in Missouri’s western district, five of which said he tried to kill his accuser from prison through a hit man, according to the Associated Press account in the Post-Dispatch. Two of the other people accused in the case have pleaded guilty to charges of committing sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.

College students rely on the convenience of their cell phones to provide accurate information instantly. The fact that Siri appears to be a venue for reliable assistance and inquiry while harboring judgmental opinions about women’s autonomy for choice is troubling. It is also troubling that after spending $200, the device that you carry in your pocket may conflict with your personal political views.
Granted, Siri is just a search engine, and Washington University students are intelligent enough to find information through other avenues. Though senior Carrie Kinkaid, who worked as a political intern at Planned Parenthood this summer, has a point: “It is unreasonable that Siri will provide locations of escort services, but will not provide information on abortion clinics, a legal service in most states. It is not Siri’s place, or Apple’s place, to provide subtle commentary about reproductive health issues.”

After the performance that night, Pug, Showalter and Pug’s New Zealand-bred guitarist — “The biggest kiwi to ever be in Willamina,” Pug joked during the concert — played into the late hours on the front porch overlooking Main St., in the front room of the restaurant, in a darkly lit side room and in the hotel’s upstairs library.
Showalter returned to Oregon in August for Pickathon, an indie roots festival held in Happy Valley. In an interview, he remembered fondly his previous stint in Willamina.
The tour had been his first along the West Coast, and he said the Wildwood gig was one of the most memorable of the shows he did.
Vinson gets a mixed bag of responses from agents and musicians outside the Northwest.
Most the time, they find the idea of making a nostalgic stop at a turn-of-the-century hotel bar — one that served as a brothel at one point — appealing. From there, it’s all about timing and price.

… The president concluded that clemency was warranted for these individuals” – Obama also issued five pardons – “because they demonstrated genuine remorse for their crimes and remarkable rehabilitation into law-abiding, productive citizens and active members of their communities,” White House spokesman Matt Lehrich said.
Obama was no doubt aware of Jennings’ plight: Democratic Sen. Richard Durban of Illinois, Obama’s former partner in the Senate, had been aggressively pushing for her release for years.
Jennings’ story is as sad as it is compelling. She’s battling cancer, was beaten by a surrogate mother, surrounded by others who used drugs, left occasionally with a prostitute who sexually assaulted her, sexually abused by one of her half-brothers and had a stepfather who tried to rape her. Even the judge who put her in jail felt sorry for her.
