Laurent, who jumped from the Gramercy Bridge after a high-speed chase with State Police, is a suspect in two murders in Jefferson Parish both involving alleged prostitutes at hotels.
Police detectives say tattoos on the body pulled from the river are consistent with Laurent’s. An autopsy is coming later this week.
Laurent, 22, of Vacherie, has been missing since he jumped from the Veterans Memorial Bridge in St. James Parish Aug. 23.
He is a suspect by Kenner Police in the murder of Anita McDonald, 22, of Flowood, Miss., at the Comfort Inn Suites. McDonald’s body was found in a room on the third floor of the hotel. She had been asphyxiated and had ligature marks on her neck and wrists, according to police.

Victims in both the Kenner and Metairie murders were strangled, police said, and both had histories of prostitution.
Laurent is also a suspect in several Baton Rouge crimes against prostitutes and in an attack at a West Bank motel.

But Kinder’s hopes of earning his party’s nomination for governor have been thrown into doubt amid his admission that he was a strip club patron a number of years ago.

But he has been unable to move past the hullabaloo generated by his acquaintance with a former stripper Kinder met while he was a state senator in the 1990s. The controversy was sparked earlier this month when the Riverfront Times ran a recent photo with Kinder and the former dancer in a bar where the waitresses don skimpy outfits. Kinder said he happened to be in the bar because he had to use the bathroom.

One freshman state House member, Republican Kevin Elmer of Nixa, issued a statement suggesting Kinder showed “moral shortcomings” in visiting a strip club, even if it was when he was a younger man.

Others signs of waning support have been more subtle. Kinder has not reported any large campaign donations since the first week of August, when the photo with Kinder and the ex-stripper first became public. In the same time period, Nixon has raised over $90,000.

Kinder Camp Explains Recent Drop in Donations

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOX) – Four weeks after the exotic dancer story broke, Peter Kinder’s fundraising has dried up like an unwatered lawn in the August sun.
The Missouri Ethics Commission website shows Kinder’s reported contributions stopped July 27th — eight days before a picture of him in a bar with former stripper Tammy Chapman first hit the news.
By contrast, in the same time frame, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon — the man Kinder wants to unseat — has raised more than $100,000.
Kinder’s campaign says the lull in fundraising is intentional and was planned well before the scandal hit – to give donors a breather.
“The month of August is usually a period when we try to make sure that donors have a break, when they’re on vacations with their families, or coming back from vacations and getting ready for school,” said Kinder spokesman Jared Craighead.

Jonathan “J.J.” Ward, of Effingham, Ill., bought heroin from Tavis D. Doyle on May 28, 2009, and died a day later inside Doyle’s crack house on Walter Street in East St. Louis, prosecutors at his trial said.
They said Doyle refused to allow witnesses to call for help when Ward overdosed. Instead, he tried to revive Ward by putting frozen meat in his pants and insisting that Ward was still alive and “just needed to sleep it off.”
Others took Ward to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis about 12 hours later. He was pronounced dead on arrival.
Dozens of witnesses testified in the two-week trial that Doyle sold crack cocaine and heroin nonstop in 2008 and 2009. Several prostitutes testified that Doyle encouraged them to bring their customers to him for drugs.

In the wake of controversy over Kinder’s past relationship with a St. Louis area stripper, there have been behind the scenes rumblings about Kinder’s ability to beat Gov. Jay Nixon in the 2012 general election. Kinder has admitted that he visited strip clubs during his time as a State Senator in the 1990’s. But he has denied having an improper relationship with a woman he was photographed with in a St. Louis bar earlier this year.

Missouri’s lieutenant governor faces stripper issues
It started with a photo published in St. Louis’ Riverfront Times — a cellphone snap of Missouri’s Republican lieutenant governor, Peter Kinder, grinning with former Penthouse Pet Tammy Chapman at a pantless bar in St. Louis. The shot initially prompted an awkward nondenial from Kinder’s office. (Kinder is unmarried.) “I really highly doubt the lieutenant governor is going to a bar where they don’t wear pants on a night when they don’t wear pants,” Kinder’s spokesman told the Riverfront Times, which runs ads for the bar that proclaim “Every night’s a pantless party.”But then Chapman told the Riverfront Times that Kinder had indeed been at the pantless bar earlier this year.

Every three school days, an educator loses his or her teaching license due to sexual misconduct across the United States, stated research cited by Missouri Sen. Jane Cunningham, R-Chesterfield. She said two more Springfield, MO, teachers lost their licenses Tuesday for this reason, with one being involved in a prostitution ring.
This disturbing pattern is why state legislators passed Senate Bill 54, Cunningham said. The law is now often referred to as “the Facebook law.”

Cunningham attended the Rockwood School District Board of Education meeting Thursday to answer questions about the bill and to help clear up confusion about the new law’s implications.
