Separately, Gould and a business associate named David Rubin, owner of two St. Louis offices of Coral Mortgage Bankers Corp., were indicted by federal prosecutors earlier this month for allegedly bilking investment clients out of millions of dollars over a four-year period, beginning in the spring of 2007. Gould allegedly used the proceeds from what amounted to a Ponzi scheme to finance a lavish lifestyle, including numerous trips to local strip clubs and to start businesses, including The Sports Nook. The company’s Web site remains in operation.

Rubin allegedly used some of the illegal proceeds to pay a separate, out-of-court sex discrimination lawsuit, while Rubin used some of the money on car payments, mortgage payments, an extensive renovation of his home, jewelry and the undisclosed “substantial expenses” from the visits to strip clubs.

ST. LOUIS > Rams sue over ticket proceeds • The St. Louis Rams Partnership has sued a stockbroker and a ticket broker, claiming they owe more than $125,000 for tickets to sporting events and other promotional activities. The Rams Partnership claims the broker, Joshua Gould, owes $77,800 plus interest and the Sports Nook owes $50,000 plus interest. The suit was filed last week in St. Louis County Circuit Court. Gould, a former broker at Woodbury Financial Services, was indicted his month on federal fraud charges for allegedly stealing millions of dollars of investors’ money. Federal prosecutors say Gould used the money for car, mortgage, and credit card payments, ’substantial expenses” at strip clubs, and also used the money to start several businesses, including the Sports Nook. Gould’s attorney, Al Watkins, said the Rams suit was “a friendly piece of litigation” and that Gould is ’stepping up to the plate and doing what he needs to do” so his liquidated assets can go toward paying back his victims. Attorneys for the Rams Partnership did not immediately return calls for comment.

Frank Wildhorn and Leslie Bricusse’s musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Gothic horror-romance is hardly without its fans. After all, the show ran for almost four years on Broadway in the late 1990s. But it always seemed to settle for two-dimensional characters, less interested in the tale of a doctor’s experiment into the nature of good and evil than in belting out power ballads and pop anthems.
The Shiloh cast does a masterful job of not acknowledging the show’s limitations, barreling through and mining every bit of entertainment value.
It does not hurt that director Rachel Blavatnik has enlisted three of the Stuart community troupe’s best voices for the central love triangle that is adapter Bricusse’s gloss on the original Stevenson tale.
You see, the scientifically curious Dr. Henry Jekyll is about to wed virginal, proper Emma Carew. But just before downing the potion that will transform him into the homicidal Edward Hyde, he meets comely bar girl-prostitute Lucy Harris. If Jekyll and Hyde are opposite sides of the good-and-evil coin, Emma and Lucy represent the Madonna-whore duality of woman.

Two people from St. Peters face sex charges after allegedly forcing a 16-year-old girl into prostitution, the FBI says.
Melvin Moore, 26, and Hannah Summers, 24, were in federal court in St. Louis Tuesday to answer a felony charge of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, which carries a minimum penalty of 10 years in prison. Both pleaded not guilty.
An affidavit filed in court by FBI Special Agent Cynthia Dockery lays out the case against the pair this way:
The FBI received a tip about an ad featuring an underage girl on a classified ad Web site, Backpage.com, on Sept. 23 and called the number listed on the ad.
…
He offered a job, but when she showed up at the St. Peters home he shared with Summers, he took her cell phone, told her she wouldn’t be allowed to leave and told her she would be working as a prostitute, Dockery wrote.

On January 18, 2009, that same gun was used to kill Florissant resident Jerry Darris. Darris had stepped out of a bar in the 2900 block of Locust near downtown when he heard his car alarm going off. Witnesses say he confronted three men trying to steal his car. They opened fire, killing Darris. The gunmen got away.
Circuit Attorney Joyce would not comment about the Thimes killing specifically, except to thank community members who came forward to identify the three suspects. But she did say gangs in St. Louis are a serious problem when it comes to violence. “Gangs in St. Louis use the Los Angeles names like Crips and Bloods, but they’re not nearly that organized,” she said. “They may sell some small-time dope on a street corner, but they’re not running drug or prostitution or extortion smuggling rackets. They just have a lot of guns and they have no reservations about shooting just about anyone.”

Officers will be collecting such items as residue, cell phones, prescription bottles, paraphernalia and laptops and will interview witnesses. Federal experts will help analyze the data. Anyone caught trying to cover up the crime or lying to federal agents about the crime is in for federal scrutiny, Wigginton said.
Wigginton said his lawyers have had success in prosecuting drug dealers this way, and the word has spread to local authorities that they can help put a drug dealer away for a long time.
Recently, federal prosecutors from Wigginton’s Southern District of Illinois won a case against Tavis Doyle of East St. Louis.
A man from Effingham died of an overdose at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after ingesting heroin at a crack house and house of prostitution operated by Doyle in East St. Louis.

Fresh off of their U. S. Supreme Court victory, The Phelps family are known the world over and are no strangers to the St. Louis LGBT Community. The WBC has brought their anti-gay signage here on many occasions protesting everything from military funerals and area high schools for having Gay/Straight Alliances to Lady Gaga concerts and even the St. Louis Cardinals. But at almost every visit the St. Louis LGBT community has countered the message of hate with a physical demonstration of love and acceptance.
What is not well known, according to Nate, is the brutality and abuse that his father inflicted upon their family. The audience learned that there has always been an inconsistent message coming from Pastor Phelps and the WBC. Nate recalled selling candy bars as a child to raise money for the family in bars around strippers. He maintains his father balanced attending law school with a wife and a dozen-plus children by relying on a cocktail of barbiturates and amphetamines to cope.
