Typically when blacks talk of the past and about how “things ain’t what they used to be,” it often is a reference to the civil rights movement and the time in which my community rallied together for a common cause — equality. We saw remnants of that synergy this week as Al Sharpton, the NAACP and several black NFLers openly opposed Rush Limbaugh’s inclusion on a team trying to purchase the St. Louis Rams.
And it is true, we were more willing to be our brother’s keepers 40 years ago. But if we’re being honest, not all of our brothers and sisters were worth trying to keep back then.
Not every black person was willing to sacrifice self-interest for the better of the whole. Quite a few of us sold out and were more than willing to be puppets or manipulate racial tension to keep crumbs of power or money.
We still had black-on-black crime, gambling, theft, prostitution, murder.

Two race baiters and poverty pimps have become outspoken critics Rush Limbaugh attempting to purchase the St. Louis Rams football team. You guessed it, no, not Frank Stallone, but it’s Jesse Jack and Al Sharpton, who contribute absolutely nothing to society. They claim Rush’s racist remarks of the past should bar him from becoming a member of the NFL. Ironically, this is coming from two of the biggest racists in America.
Andrew Wilkow, host of the Wilkow Majority on Sirius XM, once asked a question that if Sharpton or Jackson could go back in time and pull a lever that could make slavery never have happened, would they? The answer is no. Sharpton and Jackson make their money by holding the African-American race back. With true equality, they would be out of jobs. Just think about that.

Sharpton Moves To Block Limbaugh From NFL
When sports and politics collide, it’s generally never a good thing.
Take the spat between poverty pimp Al Sharpton and right-wing blowhard Rush Limbaugh over the latter’s bid to own a managing stake in the St. Louis Rams – which is currently one of the worst teams in the National Football League.
“Rush Limbaugh has been divisive and anti-NFL on several occasions with comments about NFL Players including Michael Vick and Donovan McNabb,” Sharpton wrote to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in a letter obtained by TMZ.com.
Limbaugh, who was an NFL analyst briefly during the 2003 season, stepped down from that role after claiming that McNabb received preferential treatment from the media because he is black.
Sharpton also referenced comments that Limbaugh made about the Baltimore Ravens, a team he referred to as “the Crips and the Bloods.”

Placed in its proper context, Limbaugh’s quote reflects his insightful observation that the Democrats had expanded their political base by broadening their support within the African-American community. Moreover, in the interest of further ingratiating themselves to this minority community they favored the pursuit of foreign policy initiatives designed to appeal to African-Americans by extending U.S. military and economic largesse to troubled African nations.
To that end Limbaugh suggests getting out of Iraq and going into Darfur to appease the Black vote at home. Why you might ask? Because, according to Limbaugh, “It’s black. And who do the Democrats really need to keep voting for them? If they lose a significant percentage of this voting bloc, they’re in trouble.”
When you review Rush’s comments relating to Darfur and Africa in context, it’s really a stretch to claim they are racist, when in point of fact they are sharply critical of the willingness of Democrats to prostitute the nation’s foreign policy in the interest of attracting additional voters to their party.

… I’ve said many times before, we’re all held to a high standard here and I think divisive comments are not what the NFL is all about,” Goodell said of Limbaugh’s history for controversial remarks during the league’s annual fall meetings. “I would not want to see those comments coming from people who are in a responsible position in the NFL, absolutely not.”
In short, Limbaugh can go back to the microphone and continue to talk politics, economy and social order all he wants. When it comes to joining the NFL, the closest he’ll get is buying a season ticket.
The possible short-circuiting of a bid is nothing new for the NFL, which vets prospective owners just as thoroughly as players. Just ask Howard Milstein, a New York City real estate mogul and then-part owner of the NHL’s New York Islanders, who in 1999 tried to buy the Washington Redskins. One of the problems for Milstein is that he was litigation happy, willing to drop a lawsuit the way strippers drop their clothes.

Rev. Jesse Jackson joined Rev. Al Sharpton in sending a letter to the NFL that argues against Rush Limbaugh’s attempt to become part of Rams ownership. Jackson said Limbaugh made his wealth “appealing to the fears of whites’’ with insults against blacks and other minorities. This from the man who used the “N’’ word last year — two years after he called for a public ban on that word — and said he wanted to cut off Barack Obama’s testicles. Nice credibility, huh? . . .
Jackson and Sharpton, by the way, quickly raced down to North Carolina to convict three members of the Duke lacrosse team of rape — three white members — as claimed by an African-American woman working for an escort service. Charges were dropped and the players were declared innocent, but I don’t recall Jackson and Sharpton racing down to North Carolina just as quickly to apologize. Nice credibility, huh? . . .

If there ever was a perfect time to release Jason Reitman’s Up in the Air, that time is now. Not because it stars box office golden boy George Clooney and his purr-cat voice, but because it hinges on two things weighing heavily on all our minds: air travel and jobs.
Based on Walter Kirn’s 2001 novel of the same name, Up in the Air follows the life of Ryan Bingham whose goal (besides slaying every stewardess withing a 50 yard radius) is to rack up one million frequent-flyer miles. Luckily, his job is conducive to both quests. He’s a “career transition counselor,” which is corporate speak for “the guy who travels around the country firing people.” Now, if that doesn’t sound familiar, you’ve been blissfully oblivious to the cuts and layoffs that are tormenting nearly every industry in America (except alcohol vendors and strip clubs–we don’t have data on the latter, it’s just an educated guess).

ALTON, Ill. – Alton’s new police chief, David Hayes, says he will crack down on nudity in local taverns, and his policy has led to the lewd entertainment charges against an allegedly topless female bartender.
The woman, 22-year-old Jessica L. Thomas of Collinsville, was arrested early Thursday morning at a tavern called the Pub Room during a police compliance check of a half-dozen establishments.
Although she wasn’t topless when apprehended, the arresting officer reported that he saw Thomas run to the back of the tavern unclad above the waist. The report says Thomas also works at a strip club near East St. Louis.
Hayes says he is working with the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office to bring state-level charges of public indecency against Thomas.
The current charge against Thomas is a city ordinance violation.

Topless bartender arrested
Police chief follows up vow to crack down
October 08, 2009 9:38 PM
ALTON – The new police chief’s promise to crack down on nudity in some Alton bars resulted in an allegedly topless female bartender being charged with lewd entertainment early Thursday.
The woman, Jessica L. Thomas, 22, of Collinsville, was arrested at 12:23 a.m. at the Pub Room, 230 E. Broadway, during a police compliance check of a half-dozen businesses holding liquor licenses.
“As I walked in the tavern, I observed Thomas run to the back of the business topless,” the arresting police officer wrote in his report. The report says Thomas also works at Roxy’s Night Club in Brooklyn, a strip club near East St. Louis.
Alton Police Chief David Hayes said authorities are working with the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office to bring state-level charges of public indecency against Thomas. At the state level, public indecency is a Class A misdemeanor, and someone convicted of a third or subsequent violation of the offense is guilty of a Class 4 felony.

… ST. LOUIS (CN) – A Missouri man and woman pleaded not guilty in Federal Court on charges that they forced a 16-year-old girl into prostitution. Melvin Moore, 26, and Hannah Summers, 24, both of St. Peters, Mo., are charged with felony sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion.
The FBI received a tip about an ad featuring an underage girl on a Web site, Backpage.com, and called the number listed on the ad, according to an affidavit filed by FBI Special Agent Cynthia Dockery.
The FBI arranged a meeting and then stopped the three women who showed up. Dockery said one was the 16-year-old who claimed she met Moore while out with friends and he promised her a job. When she showed up, Moore allegedly took her cell phone and told her she wasn’t allowed to leave and that she would work as a prostitute.
